If your Zip integration isn’t redirecting to the Zip login screen and you see an error message like the one below, it’s usually caused by one of the following issues.
1. Incorrect API key
You may be using the wrong API key in your integration settings.
To fix this, double-check that you’ve entered the correct Zip API key in the appropriate field.
For BigCommerce integrations, you’ll need both your Web-Store Key (API key) and your Public Key, which can be found in your Zip Merchant Dashboard.
2. Test mode is enabled
This error can also occur if Test Mode is switched on while you’re using live API keys — or vice versa.
To fix this, ensure that Test Mode is disabled if you’re using live Zip API keys.
If you’re testing, make sure you’re using test API keys instead of live ones.
If you’ve confirmed both your API keys and mode settings are correct but still see the error, try:
Clearing your browser cache and refreshing the integration setup page.
Re-entering your API keys from your Zip Merchant Dashboard.
